Application of Proportion-air proportional valve in molten metal to extruder furnace


The air pressure above the molten metal to the extruder furnace can be easily controlled using a single loop proportional-air pressure control assembly.
 
In this application, the proportional valve QB1 installed on the R series amplifier is used to control the pressure that transfers the molten metal to the extruder furnace. Since this is not a "high precision" application, the proportional-air pressure control component can be a single loop instead of a double loop.
 
In a single loop configuration, QB1 controls the pressure of the pilot regulator dome. The purpose of this is to increase the flow in the process. But because QB1 is only "closed loop" around the dome pressure, the process pressure is affected by the inherent lag and mechanical error of the amplifier. In this case, the R series amplifier is a high-performance pilot-operated regulator. This single-loop assembly can flow up to 2,000 SCFM with an accuracy of ± 1-2% of full-scale calibration.
