Application of Proportional Electric Proportional Valve in Low Pressure Aluminum Castings
Perfecting low-pressure aluminum castings for wheels requires accurate control of positive pressure to quickly move molten aluminum into the mold and obtain a finished product with higher mechanical properties (higher density) than gravity-cast wheels. In the OEM market, low pressure casting is the most common approved process for aluminum wheels. Historically, however, this process has been performed using sub-standard pressure control components.
High-resolution, low-pressure control is essential for the manufacture of good parts for low-pressure aluminum castings. The QB2 and R series regulators are the industry standard for injection control. Due to its closed-loop design, QB2 is repeatable, even at pressures below 1 PSI. The device follows the ramp command signal very well, making it ideal for almost any shooting sequence. The QB2s analog monitor provides the signal from the downstream pressure sensor to the PLC for data acquisition.
