Pill Coating
Pills are often coated with polymers or polysaccharides to extend their shelf life and make them more attractive and easier to swallow. Sometimes the coating contains certain controlled release drugs.
Our equipment controls the spray pressure by controlling the atomization of air (separation into smaller droplets) on the pill as it is shaken in a large drum or coating pan. The device can control the pressure of a nozzle with a fixed orifice to produce the desired flow rate (e.g., 30 psi) using either pressure or flow. At a certain pressure, the coating may build up in the nozzle over time, resulting in a reduced flow rate - but our products ensure that you get the same pressure until there are no openings at all. With flow control, when buildup occurs, our equipment increases the flow through the nozzle to maintain a consistent spray.
Stand Coating
Our products can also be used to precisely spray anti-restenosis polymer solutions onto stents. Anti-restenosis compounds help prevent recurrence of stenosis or prevent blood flow restriction due to narrowing of the vessel.
Our systems can accommodate vacuum or positive pressure to apply the coating, and micro-mist nozzles can be used for fine atomization of the spray. Results are precise and repeatable - extremely important in such a demanding industry.
